Walnut Squares
Ingredients
Shortbread Crust:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup powdered sugar
½ cup unsalted butter
Filling:
6 tbsp unsalted butter
½ cup light brown sugar
½ cup runny honey
1 cup walnuts, chopped
¼ cup heavy cream
Pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp lemon zest
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Mix together butter and powdered sugar until creamy
Add the flour to form a soft dough
Place balls of the dough into a prepared pan
Press the dough so it covers the entire bottom of the pan
Prick with a fork and bake for 15-20 minutes
Mix butter, light brown sugar, and runny honey in a saucepan until boiling
Remove from heat and add walnuts, heavy cream, salt vanilla extract and lemon zest
Pour the mixture into the crust and bake for 20 minutes
Let the pan cool completely and refrigerate for 30 minutes
Cut the block into squares and serve
